name: Bearkit, Bearpaw, Beartoothgender: Tomage: Six Moonsrank:Apprenticeclan:ThunderClanquick description: Maine coon; large dark brown classic tabby tom with golden-yellow eyes.description: Bearpaw is a nearly perfect model of what a Maine coon should look like. Everything about him is large; his shoulders are broad, his legs tall and strong, and his body burly and muscular. His paws are like mighty clubs, and his claws are like sharpened daggers. He is a beast on the battlefield, and he uses his sheer power and his tactful intelligence to dominate his opponents. Even though he is still young and has a lot to learn, he is not a cat that one would want to meet in combat. Bearpaw's size isn't always an advantage. It makes it harder for him to hunt prey, especially smaller critters such as mice and shrews. He tends to use his brute force rather than stealth, which often causes prey to sense him before he can get a hold. He's working to improve his hunting skills, but it's one of his biggest challenges. Bearpaw's thick, shaggy coat is especially long around his neck, chest, underbelly, and tail. He is always warm and he's the perfect cuddle partner. His large, pointed ears are tipped with black tufts. His paw pads are also thick with hair that makes him tramp through the snow with ease. Bearpaw doesn't do so well in the hot seasons, and gets slightly embarrassed when cat's notice how much he sheds. Bearpaw's pelt is a beautiful blend of black, dark brown, and beige. He is a classic tabby, which means his black tabby stripes are thick and boldly line his back, head, and shoulders. He has the traditional "M" mark of tabbies on his forehead and his cheeks are streaked with black stripes that looks like warpaint. The black stripes cover an underlying color blend of dark muddy brown and a lighter dust brown. The brown is darker on his face, ears, sides, and haunches. His chest and underbelly lightens to the lighter brown and beige shades, with black tabby marks barring his strong legs. His paw pads are black and his red nose is lined with black as well. His chin and throat is almost pure white, but blended with light shades of brown. The top of his muzzle is a richer muddy brown. Bearpaw's eyes are sunlight yellow with hues of gold. They add to his over-all mature, brute-like presence, yet they have a trace of softness in them that one could look into and instantly feel warmth in their heart. personality: Bearpaw is mostly the strong and silent type. He doesn’t speak much, not because he is shy or dim, but because that is simply his way. He’s always working his brain around situations and makes sure to think something through before he acts, which is the opposite of how his brother, Foxpaw, is. Bearpaw may seem intimidating to most cats because of his size and his tough exterior, but he is actually a gentle giant. He is patient with young cats and tries to encourage the good qualities in everyone. He is compassionate and knows that the world is not black and white; it’s shades of gray and nobody is perfectly good or perfectly evil. Bearpaw is already an excellent fighter, but he is constantly striving to better his skills and live up to the great potential he knows he can reach someday. Bearpaw lives his life by the warrior code and would die for his clan in a heartbeat. He sometimes works himself too hard in his training, even to the point of exhaustion. He’s stubborn in his determination to improve his warrior skills, and some cats might even call him obsessed. While Foxpaw will be the apprentice every mentor dreads teaching, Bearpaw would be a blessing for any mentor to take on. He follows his clan's orders without question, though he surely gives them quite a bit of thought. Bearpaw is a bit awkward and under-confident in social situations. Every once in a while, he might work up the courage to speak his opinion or suggest a different way of doing things. Honestly, he doesn't know how to have fun and be a young, playful apprentice. He doesn't really understand the concept of "games" and takes them as a waste of time that could be spent training or protecting the clan. When it comes to being in the thick of battle, Bearpaw is always completely calm, composed, and tends to take on a leader's attitude. He has a powerful voice when he uses it, and it definitely can get a cat's attention. He seems fearless in the face of his enemies, and tries to use his intimidating presence to solve problems that might otherwise end in bloodshed. If a she-cat were to flirt with him, he probably wouldn’t notice at all. He gets a little uncomfortable and awkward when it comes to friendly she-cats, and he tends to avoid forming close relationships. Unlike his brother, he could only give his heart to one she-cat alone, and when he finds her, his loyalty and dedication could be matched by no other tom. Bearpaw has a lot of love to give, but he may easily stray into a relationship where he is under-appreciated and he may find himself being used. Bearpaw deserves a life-long partner who can teach him about the lighter side of life and allow him to realize his positive qualities outside of training. Bearpaw makes a point to see the good in everyone and to never use the word "hate", but there are certain kinds of cats that make his chest burn with fury. He cannot stand cats that take pleasure in hurting others and cats that kill without a real cause. He also hates discrimination, especially of cats that aren't "pure" blood. Bearpaw is a bit hypicritial in that he never spoke up for the cats his brother bullied, and he even made an effort to protect and defend Foxpaw even when Bearpaw knew what his brother was doing was wrong. If it were any other cat, he would not hesitate to put them in their place. At the heart of it all, Bearpaw wishes to live a life of peace with his clan, and that's what he fights so hard to protect them. He is content in the fact that he is alive, and that is enough of a push to motivate him to get up every day and do what he does. He doesn't improve his battle skills for the pleasure of hurting other cats or gaining power; he does it to protect the clan he loves with the dream that one day, he will no longer have to see any cat suffering. history: Bearkit's parents were both ThunderClan warriors and had one other kit; Foxkit. The two share a sort of unspoken brotherly bond despite their enormous differences. Bearkit took on the role of the older brother that would always provide back up muscle when Foxkit got in fights. It became apparent right away that Foxkit was the favorite, but this didn't seem to bother Bearkit much (on the outside). His mother's neglect and his father's unsatisfiable disciplines motivated him to push himself even harder to become the best warrior in the clan. There were times when he felt jealous of Foxkit, but he never got angry at Foxkit for it, and learned to live with his parent's disapproval. Perhaps it was that his father expected more of him than he expected of Foxkit because he's the older, more warrior-material son, but their father died before Bearkit could really make amends. When Bearpaw and Foxpaw became apprentices, they started to branch apart. Foxpaw became involved with his social circles and Bearpaw focused all his energies on training. Still, Bearpaw would come to his brother's aide in a heartbeat, and he remains fiercely loyal to Foxpaw despite his envy of Foxpaw's confidence.
