name: Cricketkit Cricketpaw
gender: She Cat
age: 7 Moons
rank: Medicine Cat Apprentice
clan:SkyClan
quick description:A frail black and white she cat with mint green eyes
Description:Cricketpaw was molded by StarClan to be a medicine cat, it seems. She has a very frail and slim, nimble build that would do her little good when it comes to fighting. Her dainty paws were made for careful, precision work rather than hard labor. Cricketpaw's coat is half white and half black, her neck, muzzle, belly, paws and under tail all white. Her pelt is short and has a silky feel to it. Over all Cricketpaw is a rather beautiful she cat, which is dampened by her personality. Cricket's eyes are a mint green that stands out against her pelt rather brilliantly.
Personality: Stubborn Never in your life will you meet a she cat quite like Cricketpaw. When she comes to a decision, she sticks to it through and through. She will gladly stand up to any cat and has a hard time admitting she is wrong.
Short Tempered When something (or more usually someone) rubs Cricketpaw the wrong way she will explode quicker than a viper can strike. This short temper of Cricketpaw's is usually shown through throwing things. Cricketpaw keeps a special stick near by that she uses to splint broken limbs and to throw at the heads of irritating cats. This short temper of Cricketpaw gives her a bad reputation among her clan mates as being the scary medicine cat apprentice. Thankfully it also acts as a deterrent for cats to do something unnecessary in battle.
Particular When it comes to her herbs and den in general, Cricketpaw can be very particular. Everything has its place and it should stay that way. If Cricketpaw finds someone messing with her herbs (other than her mentor) she will most likely hit them with her stick.
Serious Cricketpaw very seldom smiles or laughs. Her nature is very serious and never joking around. Her fellow clan mates see her as capable of nothing else but anger.
Distant Cricketpaw has very few friends in the clan due to the fact that she keeps everyone at arm's length. After having Sageheart die right before her, Cricketpaw has never wanted another cat to hurt her in such a way. So she uses her short tempter and serious attitude to ward cats away from her. The walls she built around her heart keep everyone out.
Dedicated Cricketpaw actually has a rather horrible memory but ever since she became the medicine cat apprentice, it isn't uncommon to see her staying up late at night to look over herbs to try and remember their name and uses. When Cricketpaw is helping a cat, she will put her own life at risk to protect them form further harm. Cricketpaw is known to put herself between her patient and an attacking cat in order to protect them. The few moons she served as a regular apprentice gives her enough experience to fight to protect a patient.
History:
Kit
Cricketkit was the last in the litter of four kit to the deputy Sageheart and Birchtail. Along with Cricketkit came Owlkit, Birdkit and Morningkit. The small family were a picture-perfect family with the strong, loyal parents and energetic kits. The four kits grew up competitively against other kits because of their mother being deputy of the clan. Birdkit quickly out shined her siblings and gained most of the attention from the adults. Owlkit, Morningkit and Cricketkit didn't really mind and kept each other busy. The three kits grew further and further away from their sister to a point where they wouldn't include Birdkit in any their games or curl up by her when they went to sleep. Cricketkit wasn't consciously aware of what she and her sisters were doing to Birdkit, but didn't correct it either.
Apprentice
It wasn't until her late kithood, early apprenticeship that Cricketkit started to change. It started with odd dreams of misty figures then seeing movement from the corner of her eye. Cricketkit swore she was surrounded by spirits of cats but they didn't bother her and she didn't bother them. She would talk to one or two occasionally when she was lonely but besides that she paid most of her attention to her sisters. Cricketpaw was given a normal warrior mentor and trained to be a warrior, but it was soon clear it wasn't going to work out very easily. Cricketpaw was naturally a weak kit and couldn't knock over a mouse if she tried.
It wasn't until a major life changing event that she even considered becoming a medicine cat. It was a normal day when her entire life turned around. She was running after her sisters, playing a game of chase deep into SkyClan territory when they came to a stop near a gorge. The sisters loved playing so close to danger. That was when Cricketpaw spotted a dead white bird on the cliff side of the gorge. Cricketpaw pointed it out to her sisters who encouraged her to go get it an show it off to her mentor, to prove she could be a warrior. Cricketpaw bravely made her way down the gorge towards the bird and was very close to the bird when she thought she saw something from the corner of her eye. Turning her head, Cricketpaw spotted, at the last second, a fox carefully hidden at the bottom of the Gorge, very close to where she sat, with its dark eyes trained right on Cricketpaw. The she cat gave a yowl of fright and tried to scramble back up the gorge to safety, but the fox was faster and was on her in seconds. All the training her mentor gave her so far left her mind and she stared at the fox in horror. Just as it was about to snap it's jaws around her it flinched with a yelp and drew back, turning its head up wards. Up above on the top of the Gorge was Owlpaw, using her paws to throw pebbles down at the fox and yowling profanities to catch the canine's attention. While the earth brown she cat was doing that, Birdpaw and Morningpaw were making their way down the gorge as fast and carefully as they could. The fox was furious, it tried to turn its attention back to it's prey in front of it, only for Owlpaw to make yet another spectacular hit on its head. It snarl and back away on confusion, its paws flailing wildly in its haste to retreat. One of the flailing paw smacked Cricketpaw right across the maw, sending her plunging right into the icy waters. Within seconds the current had seized her and sent her hurling down stream. Cricketpaw was being crushed from all sides, she couldn't smell, she couldn't hear and couldn't see anything but muggy brown waters. In her panic her limbs flailed around like a floundering fish and pulled herself to the surface momentarily. Cricketpaw sucked in a deep breath, her limbs working furiously to keep afloat and opened her eyes to see the river bank. Oddly, her mind was perfectly calm and calculated how far she was from the bank. Ahead of her were some large grey stones sticking out of the water and broke the currents unrelenting forward motion. Forcing herself to head for the rocks Cricketpaw focused as she had never done in her life. Then suddenly she was scrambling onto the flat surface of stone and was overwhelmed with the urge to cling to the stone and never let go. Panting heavily, Cricketpaw allowed herself a moment of rest. Her amber eyes opened and looked up wards, only to see a dark, sleek tom gazing at her blankly before dissolving like dust in the wind, leaving behind a dead cricket on the stone beside Cricketpaw.
Later in SkyClan camp, the entire clan was wailing over the four she cats, switching between wanting to claw their ears off to saying they will be make warriors early for this. Cricketpaw was in shock. She barely remembered anything of that evening, but she was aware of walking up to the medicine cat Peachblossom and demanding that she become her apprentice.
Medicine Cat Apprentice
The little trauma with the water quickly left Cricketpaw as she started out on her journey as a medicine cat. Her sisters had mixed reactions. Owlpaw was surprised but happy, while Morningpaw was bragging how she knew it all along and Birdpaw just smiled quietly at Cricketpaw, her eyes sparking with pride.
Peachblossom was delighted to have a apprentice after so much time and quickly cleared it with Northstar before starting the training. Peachblossom was a strict mentor but Cricketpaw had a strong memory that helped her remember the herbs and other remedies that helped cure cats. This was the time in Cricketpaw's life when her sister were splitting. With Cricketpaw's attention all on her training her sister slowly but surely split apart and became just another stranger in the clan.
Suddenly, Sageheart fell deathly ill and, consequently, fell into the care of Peachblossom and her daughter, Cricketpaw. Cricketpaw was in a panic because this was her first real patient and it was her mother. One moon later, Sageheart passed away due to her illness. Birdpaw was furious at her sister, yowling how she "was a lousy medicine cat who couldn't even cure her own mother". Cricketpaw was confused by Birdpaw's behavior and turned to Morningpaw and Owlpaw to understand why their sister was acting like that; but the two, who never got along with their mother like Birdpaw and Cricketpaw did, ignored them both.
Cricketpaw came to the conclusion that Birdpaw was right and it was all her fault her mother was dead. Those imaginary friends she had as a kit who she played with and would talk to came back to her with a vengeance and would whisper to her during the day. Cricketpaw would listen and talk to them and was soon dubbed crazy by her clan for talking to thin air. Cricketpaw didn't mind, or didn't have enough mind left to care.
note: Cricketpaw cannot actually see spirits, it is just her imagination combined with early kithood stress. After her mother died it became a delusion.
