8 moons | Tom | ShadowClan | Apprentice
"Intelligence without ambition is like a bird without wings."
A Dirty white tom with a dusky mask and blue eyes.
Appearance: Most of Maskpaw's long fur is a dirty white color that hides him well in the grassy areas. Places like his face, paws, and tail tip are a more darker dusky brown color. Unlike his younger sister, Sleepingpaw, his body is longer. Maskpaw is a larger cat like his mother, Blackrose. Even though his legs are quite short his strength is quite over average. His muscles can be seen in his legs and shoulders quite nicely. His tail and neck are also quite short in size but his neck is great in strength. The fur on Maskpaw's face is a lot shorter then the rest of his fur and it shows his tiny black nose and his majorly bright blue eyes. The fur on his chest is the softest and the longest on his body. His tail, although really furry, is long and gives him enough balance to climb trees really well. His claws are short white and very sharp. He likes to work on them often indicating why they are quite short. His body is very long, assuming like his father's.
[Note;; sorry for it being short, choppy and all over the place. I'm not very good at appearance.]
Personality; OUTSIDE; Truthfully you never know what you’re going to get with Maskpaw, most of the time he is very serious and quiet. Though no one really knows him well enough to know what his true personality is. Not even his sister. He doesn't really talk too much in crowds but would rather talk individually. If you’re a leader or mentor he may hold a respectful tone with them. Sometimes he could act rebellious and other times he could act determined. Maybe he'll be shy to a she-cat his age just to get their attention. So I beg you to be careful.
He is a volcano just waiting to explode with hot lava to kill instantly and a storm for cleaning evidence. [<-- just a figure of speech. : ) ]
When Maskpaw talks to an individual cat he usually sugarcoats his voice with a smooth milky membrane. Not noticeable enough to be suspicious but strong enough to be convincing. He uses it to keep his secrets but still get information and to always get what he wants. Though he usually knows when he can't win a battle.
INSIDE; [For the record, if this paragraph seems like a "perfect cat" situation then I’ll change it. Also it doesn't mean he "knows" more than anyone, it just means that he can think like a smarter cat. And of course Warriors are smarted then him. : )]
Despite his calm and collected attitude it is possible to see that quick flash in his eyes that says... "Maskpaw is more intelligent then he lets on and one day he is going to rule your hide." This tom is very smart, smarter than even the average clan cat. His intelligence goes off the charts. His mind is his best weapon and he plans on using it. On the outside he looks more like a follower ready to take orders but his heart is bursting to be in control. Of course he is only 6 moons old and he knows this. He had to decide to go world domination when he becomes a warrior. Even then his carefully decided plan was going to take a little while longer than that.
Ohkay remember when I said that this dangerous / crazy look often gets in his eye as if you were his next target? Well it does happen and he never really knows when it does. Most of the time it’s very brief and you never really register that fact in your mind. Often when you do register the fact that Maskpaw has an insane look in his sharp yellow eyes then you aren't even sure if it was there at all.
Maskpaw is not a goodie-four-paws kind of tom. He is very devious in thought and not that simpathetic. A blank expression is often found on his face. However Maskpaw is not a killer. Even the thought of it makes him woozie. Don't underestimate him just yet though. Maskpaw will be dangerous. He is the type of cat to be messed with or underestimated in the begining and then surprises every cat with his betrayal.
Oh yeah one more thing about Maskpaw. He doesn't believe in StarClan. The whole thing makes no sense to him. However he talks as if he does.
TRUTH OR DARE; If you ask Maskpaw what his fear is he will deny having any at all. He doesn't believe in fear. He isn't afraid of water, heights, or dogs. Badgers and foxes don't bother him even though he is quite small for his age. Not too small mind you. If you comment on that you might not be able to walk again. Anyway, back to his fears, or not fears.
Even though he thinks he doesn't have any fears he actually does of course. He doesn't really know about them yet but they are very real.
Unknown to him he has a new side of him just waiting to happen. Maskpaw is very jealous of the other cats, especially Sleepingpaw. He's not quite sure why but this makes him grow very angry inside, which gives him this crazy personality that someday he may not be able to control. When he finally realizes this he becomes steadily afraid of it every day, though it’s not always in check.
He's also afraid to die and to die alone. He hates the feeling of being alone even though it is his choice for being by himself all of the time. The thought of dieing and falling into a black hole of nothingness creeps him out too. And even though he doesn't believe in StarClan he wishes to the stars that the ancestors were real. Though he's not entirely sure if he would believe in them even if he saw them with his own eyes.
History; KITTING; When Mask-kit was born he was told that he didn't have a father. Well of course he didn't have a father. He just could't be like all of the other kits in ShadowClan, no! But of course Mask-kit was going to do anything he could to find out who his father was. Not to mention he had a blind sister. Great StarClan what could get better than that. But everyone liked his sister better than him for some reason. He tried to show how smart and cute he could be but the Clan still just didn't see him, or so he thought anyway. He blamed is on being so shy and so quiet. So for some reason, at 3 moons old, he closed himself up and hardened his heart with his jealousy.
That was when he decided to have an expedition. He asked around the warriors and elders but found out nothing. He was starting to get really annoyed by the fifth day doing that. He realized that he wasn't going to find anything out in the camp because the Clan wouldn't talk and Blackrose, his mother, wasn't going to tell him. He begged Sleepingkit to come with him and he made the offer so that she couldn't refuse. He tended to do that a lot.
One moment they were safe inside the camp, the next moment they were faced with a large fox. How did this happen? Mask-kit led the tiny expedition out of the camp and into the heart of ShadowClan territory. How did the fox find them? That would be Sleepingkit's fault. She kept bumping into everything and making noise. Mask-kit helped by hissing at her and getting mad at her. How did they survive? Of course they were saved by a search party that heard the fox and the screechings of Sleepingkit, and Mask-kit got into a whole lot of trouble, but all the same, it happened.
APPRENTICESHIP; When he became an apprentice he was sure that he could find out who his father was. Much of his time was spent eavesdropping on many of the warriors and even his own mother. After searching for around a moon and practicing his fighting and hunting techniques he finally found out the name of his father. His name was Raccoontail and he once lived in ShadowClan too. Though where he had gone puzzled Maskpaw. There was no indication that he had died in battle or had been banished in any way shape or form. So now Maskpaw had to find out why Raccoontail was no longer in ShadowClan.
So one night, he cornered his mother outside of the training hallow and asked her where Raccoontail was. His mother refused to talk so he instinctively racked his claws across her muzzle. Realizing what had just happened Maskpaw apologized with half his heart. His mother forgave him and Maskpaw took her back to the Medicine cat's den where Blackrose told Wintersky that it was the fault of a fleeing eagle.
Though the incident had rattled them both, Maskpaw found himself strangely satisfied. For a long time neither cat spoke to one another and Maskpaw decided that he wanted to use his intelligence to his advantage. He would teach himself his own moves as well as learn from his mentor. All the while he has searched for the reason of his father's disappearance.
[Note: Maskpaw's father, Raccoontail, died by accident in an unnecessary border skirmish.]
