Dawn, the sun was rising in the west glowing gently through the pine trees. A lithe black she-cat trotted through the trees, keeping to the shadows and moving at a steady pace. She was supposed to be at the training hollow at Dawn, but she was fairly sure she was ahead of her mentor. I wonder what he will be teaching me today? Maybe it's a fighting move- or maybe we will be hunting?
Nearing the hollow she drew the air in through her mouth, tasting it. She had beat her mentor here! Glancing around she back traced her steps and trotted around the clearing, finding a tree with low branches to climb up. Digging her claws in, branch by branch she finally made it to the branch she had in-visioned.
Laying up there, she could see her mentor coming from ten fox-lengths away, and maybe just maybe she would be able to surprise him.

Earthshaker| Warrior of ShadowClan
Earthshaker breathed in a gulp if fresh air, letting the morning scents wash over him like a wave on a lack shore. Early morning was Earthshaker's favourite time of day, just as the sun was starting to light the sky. Earthshaker's forest green eyes followed the progress of some birds flying far above him, nearly touching the clouds. His orbs followed the progress of the birds for a moment longer before he turned them back to the familiar ground under his paws. Earthshaker had told Eaglepaw to meet him at the hollow the previous day for a training session so he hadn't bothered to wake the she cat up. He had just eaten a mouse then left camp.
The massive tom flicked his tail from side to side as he camp upon the empty hollow. He glanced around the air, no surprised that his apprentice wasn't there yet. He remembered how his own brother Forestpaw used to sleep in and miss the beginning of his training sessions. Earthshaker flicked an ear at the thought of his brother before sitting down on his hunches to wait for his apprentice. A small prick at the back of his mind was the only warning he had of the apprentice in the tree above him.

The young black apprentice had been waiting for her mentor with her claws dug into the thick bark of the pine tree. Once he was directly under her, she shifted so that she could drop out of the tree and onto him. She didn't ever really stop to think about what the warrior might do as she landed on him. Why would she?
As the she-cat slid off the branch, she made sure her claws were sheathed in the split second of the fall. Landing on Earthshakers back, she let herself slide off of him easily, and rolled over in the pine needles beside him, "Did I scare you?" She asked ever so hopefully.

Earthshaker felt something land heavily on his back and reacted on instinct. He pushed himself to his paws and shook his pelt heavily, hoping to throw the enemy off his back. When he felt the cat slide off his back and land soundly next to him. Earthshaker spun around, his eyes glinting darkly.
The warrior was half-surprised to find Eaglepaw, his wayward apprentice laying in the pine needles next to him. He gave the she cat a reprimanding look which was spoiled slightly by his contently flicking tail. "I must admit you did." He meowed, indulging the apprentice. The look quickly vanished as he regarded the black furred apprentice for a moment. "I can already tell you will do great things for ShadowClan." He murmured softly.
Shaking himself of a few stray pine needles, Earthshaker glanced around the clearing for any other cats. Finding none he looked to his apprentice. "I will be assessing your skills today to see where you need improvement. Would you rather start with hunting or fighting?" Earthshaker asked the young cat.

Blinking her brilliant green eyes at her mentors unsuspected praise, Eaglepaw felt her eyes brighten a little. She loved being praise for being such an awesome apprentice. 'I will be assessing your skills today to see where you need improvment. Would you rather start with hunting or fighting?' The little black she-cat flexed her claws, and replied with a sarcastic purr, "I'm the best at both, but fighting will loosen me up." She ventured.
Flexing her muscles gently, the she-cat glanced around the hollow, flicking her tail impaitently- waiting for Earthshaker's answers.
OOC;; It's a fail post but my muse is elsewhere today. Sorry :(

Earthshaker flicked his bushy tail in understand. He took a few steps back for room, placing him at the edge of the hollow, his eyes never leaving the apprentice. "Alright." Earthshaker meowed as he spread his limbs further, giving him better balance. Earthshaker's major advantage over Eaglepaw was his size, as it was over most ShadowClan cats. He was not looking to hurt his apprentice, so for this fight he would have to be careful of his own strength. The warrior had no doubt that by the time Eaglepaw was ready to become a warrior he would not have to hold back in the slightest against the she cat. "Some ground rules will be in order. I am looking for some of the battle techniques you know. This battle will not be about who wins, but rather how well you preform your techniques. This is how I will determine what you will need practice on. The fight cannot leave the hollow and that does included the tree as well. No claws, but you are more than welcome to use your teeth. The battle will end when I say so. Remember, do not think about winning, just your techniques." The tom sheathed his claws and waited for his apprentice to make the first move.
He did not even expect her to do much damage to him, but then again, she had surprised him earlier. Earthshaker did not put it past Eaglepaw to surprise him during battle though. Despite the fact that Earthshaker prized himself on his fighting ability, he was not going to start under estimating any cat.

The young black she-cat turned to look at her mentor earnestly. Battle-Training! What a great day this had turned out to be! 'Some ground rules will be in order. Remember, do not think about winning, just your techniques.'
With her ears pricked forward the young she-cat listened to her mentor's instructions carefully and fought down a snort of laughter. Eaglepaw? Not fighting to win a fight... not likely. I'll show him, She thought with a purr as she stood and backed away from her mentor, her stance sliding into an offensive position. Stepping back from her mentor, she observed him quickly. He was larger than her, and had her beat by his size.
Leaping forward she let her gaze remain on his legs, but aimed for his shoulders. Her intention was to take the tom down by knocking him off balance. It was a trick she and Hazelpaw had worked out together. As she lept towards him she felt her muscles stretch with satisfaction, and let out a yowl.
Her mind locked on winning, that was what battles were about- weren't they? She wanted to prove to Earthshaker that she was more advanced then the rest of the apprentices. That she was worthy of being taught advanced battle-moves. She was Eaglepaw for StarClan's sake.
