It was sunset, and Solostar was sitting along the river bank watching the sun melt over the river. The colors cast were of orange, yellow, purple, and blue. It breathtakingly beautiful. Like RiverClan, the water was always changing- always flowing.
It had been a long day, the apprentices had worked extra hard with hunting and stocking the fresh-kill pile and at the moment all of her clanmates were gathered in camp, eating and sharing- tongues. She should be with them, but sometimes she just needed a moment alone- and this was one of those times.
Sheathing and unsheathing her claws, she felt them sink into the sandy shore around the river. The feel of the earth relaxed the leader and she felt a soft purr erupt from her throat- if only things were always this peaceful.

A beautiful silver tabby with grey tabby stripes and four white paws wondered in to the forest of RiverClan territory to clear her mind. This young beauty was scarred though and she thought herself ugly. She has a claw shaped scar from the top of her right ear to her chin past her mouth. Willowpaw had always thought of herself as pretty. But ever since that battle when she was eight moons old and had lost her brother in that fight over that cliff side. Willowpaw has thought of herself as ugly and that she might never get a mate because of it. She didn't only lose her brother and her right eye. Willowpaw felt that she has lost the chance to ever have a family of her own. It was long before the young apprentice of 13 moons was at the river and she saw her leader was here too. Willowpaw didn't know if she should be here and thought to leave. But just as she was about to leave; Willowpaw stepped on a twig and it snapped. She looked at Solostar with her one good eye as she never opened her blind right eye.

Staring at the river, the silver she-cat heard a snap of a twig. Taking a soft breath, she smelt the scent of Willowpaw. The apprentice had been sitting farther down the river and must have seen her and didn't want to distrub. "Willowpaw, you don't have to leave. Enjoy the river it helps one think and clear her mind."
Turning her blue eyes, she gazed at the scarred apprentice, before beckoning her closer. This young apprentice had been through alot in her life time. She was horribly scared, but still such a beauty. Solostar could remember when she was just the newly named leader Solostar and in the first battle she led this apprentice had been horrifically injured.
The young leader couldn't help but slightly blame herself. The apprentice shouldn't have been in the battle. In a way Solostar felt slightly responsible for her injuries.

Willowpaw looked at her leader and at the older she cats words stayed to enjoy the river. But when she was beckon over to Solostar. Willowpaw slowly walked over and once beside the leader, she sat down to enjoy the river. She looked in the river and saw herself in it. Willpaw could see the terrible scar that ran over the right side of her face. Opening her right eye you could see that it was a dull blue and that it looked like there was a fog in it. Willowpaw felt that she was lucky enough to still be able to become a warrior. Though some times she felt that it wasn't luck and that there was still a chance that she would never become a warrior. Willowpaw would be heart broken if that were to happen. But she kept hoping it would be proven wrong to her and nothing would keep her from her dream. Willowpaw looked at Solostar with a small smile "so how has being a leader been working so far" She asked the young leader.

The grey tabby had been out of the camp, staring out across the river like streams that raced into the lake. The young apprentice, Willowpaw had joined her on the bank and had finally spoken to her. 'So how as being a leader worked so far?' she had asked. This question took a lot of thought, it wasn't an easy answer to give either.
"Being leader is challenging, managing this clan of ruffians has it's perks." She began with a purr of affection. "It's a challenge I've always yearned for, and I welcomed it openly. I like to think that I am doing a decent job so far." Turning her head to glance at the young apprentice her eyes caught her scars again and she looked away.
"How is being an apprentice working for you?" She asked quietly then went on to state an observation, "You've had a more difficult path than other apprentices. You'll always bear your scars as a sign of your struggles, and you should bear them proudly. You are a warrior that I am proud to lead." Flicking her ear, she realized that she might have said to much, in reality she knew that the young she-cat probably felt hideous with her scars, but when Solostar looked at them.. she saw beauty and power. For this apprentice, bearing her scars couldn't be easy- but Willowpaw faced the task well, almost better than any other warrior.

Back in the camp, a black shadow lay sprawled on its belly outside the reedy nest otherwise known as the Elders Den, soaking in the rays of golden sunshine of sunhigh fliting through the clouds that swam across the liquid blue sky. Having just downed a few poppy seeds and a silver fish for the aching in his back, Nightbreeze was preparing for a well-needed nap, which was hard to do when the entire clan was out and sharing-tongues but he would have to manage. Hearing the laughter, the mews of friendship, it reopened that pit of dark longing and lonliness in his heart. Here he was, a tom in his prime without so much a mate let alone kits. But that was a lie. He wasn't in his prime, he wasn't even healthy. Nightbreeze was an advancing cripple and the soul inhabitant of the reed nest of the Elders den.
A sigh escaped him and he put his head on his paws, turning it away from the noise of the happy-go-lucky clan and focusing on the sound of the rushing water and waving reeds. Those were his only and true friends, the water and the reeds, and he would probably die with only those as companions. Who in his right mind would even want to get to know such a sorry cat as Nightbreeze? No one. The only one he presumed knew how he used to be was Solostar, but then again tales went around the entire clan about how mighty he was, how powerful, how skilled. He could feel their eyes burning his pelt when he severely limped across camp just to get fresh-kill, and that was if he was in his best condition. Most times things were having to brought to him and warriors had to escort him flank-to-flank just to get him to the water when he wanted to fish. As far as Nightbreeze was concerned, he was nothing but dead-weight everyone in Riverclan was waiting to fall off. He could only imagine their sympathy, their shame, their disappointment each time they looked at his robust frame. What a bitter waste of a great warrior. If only he had been more careful that day in battle. The black tom could imagine them saying with shaking heads and he closed his eyes tighter in a futile attempt to go to sleep. I am nothing but a waste and a leech. No wonder nobody comes around me anymore. I'm not Nightbreeze the Great, not Nightbreeze the Skilled, I'm not Nightbreeze the Proud...not anymore, nor will I ever be. All because of a stupid Thunderclan cat... He thought sadly to himself but his tail gave a quick flick of anger. My glory days are over. Theres nothing left of what I used to be and what I am now...nobody wants a part of.

Willowpaw looked at Solostar while thinking of what her leader said. It was true what she said and Willowpaw knew it. A lone tear fell down her muzzle as she heard Solostar say that she was proud to lead Willowpaw. “Thank you, Solostar.” She sat there for a moment to think about what she had just heard and didn’t know what else she could say. Willowpaw looked at her leader “Training has been hard, but not as hard as I thought it would be.” Willowpaw said while looking at the river. It was hard during her first week in training after what happen during that battle that lost her, her brother over a cliff near RiverClan. Willowpaw had gotten better over the moons and had become one of RiverClans best fighter’s in this season’s apprentices. Willowpaw got many thoughts of her brother and how he ended up dying. She could never forget how his face looked when Stormpaw fell over that cliff. Willowpaw looked at herself in the river and all she saw was those scar’s that were always there on her face. Opening her once bright blue eye, that is now a pale blue that is all cloudy. Willowpaw never wanted this scars and she also never wanted to lose her brother either. Willowpaw was lucky to still be able to even open her eye is what many have told her. However, she didn’t feel lucky and still had a hard time with the sight of her scars. She looked at Solostar to see what the leader had to say about her answer about training.
