``SANDSHADOW &&i'm watching you[/b][/size]
She raced through the forest for she knew they were behind her. Running beside her was the handsomely white furred Whiteblaze. Each of them carried two kits in their mouths, trying not to drop them. She could feel her fear level rising as they neared the edge of RiverClan territory. As they reached the river the two warriors jumped in and Sandshadow dropped one of the kits who began to wash down the river at surprising speed. She could hear it squealing for help as it passed Whiteblaze who tried desperately to grab the kit as it passed by. Of course it was to no avail.
But there was no time to react, because their pursuers hoped into the water behind them. Sandshadow and Whiteblaze made it to the other side of the river and ran once again to safety. A couple yards from the river she could hear the swishing and swashing of pelts touching the foliage around them as they raced after the banished cats. At the first sign of a Thunderpath they slid to a stop just fast enough to keep themselves from being flattened to the black top.
Within seconds they were swarmed by cats who hissed and glared from their positions around them. Being hidden within the forest, the two-legs wouldn't be able to see the cats that surrounded them. Sandshadow was tired. She was tired of running and she was tired of being afraid. All she wanted to do right now was lay down and mourn for her lost son.
But that wasn't to be. One cat in particular lunged from his position in the leaves and thrust Sandshadow and the kit in her mouth into the Thunderpath. The last thing she heard was the dying squeak of her little kit.
X-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-X
Sandshadow lifted her head and gasped in exasperation. Her heart raced in her chest and she couldn't stop panting. That dream had been haunting her for the past moon, but it wasn't as vivid as that. Not until this night. As her breathing and heartbeat began to regulate she looked around the Nursery to see light beaming into the den from the entrance. She sighed with relief and looked down at the two kits that slept in the nest next to hers. Leafkit and Rosekit were beautiful kits. She felt sorry that their mother and father were no longer alive, but she was glad that she got the opportunity to take over their kithood as their "Mother."
Then she sighed and looked down at her swollen belly. She wasn't sure how many kits she was going to have but the dream certainly seemed to hit it on the spot. Four kits. Wow, she was carrying a lot of little lives. Sadness overtook her and she suddenly felt afraid of her own clan. Would they really chase her out if they found out who's kits they were? Not RiverClan, that was for sure.
Whiteblaze of ThunderClan had stolen her heart and she had followed in her father's footsteps to her dismay. What would happen if they found out?

A young sliver tabby wondered out of the apprentice's den to start a new day. The young cat looked at the prey pale and saw that a nice fat fish was there. She decided to bring it to the queens in the nursery. This young cats name was Willowpaw and she had only one good eye. She had been very lucky after having her face wounded to see be able to become a warrior and not to be forced in being the medicine cat apprentice. Willowpaw is a kind hearted she-cat who always loves to help the queens out. She quickly picked up the fat fish and quickly made her way over to the nursery. Willowpaw looked at the enterance with her good eye and wondered if any of the kits would be afraid of her terribly scarred face.
She hasn't been to the nursery in a while now; she hasn't seen Leafkit and Rosekit since four moons ago. Willowpaw loved to always help with the kits and to watch them while their mothers went out for a bit to walk around or to maybe hunt a little. Willowpaw looked down to the ground with one emerald green eye. She sat the fat fish on the ground for a mother and thought about how the kits would feel at the sight of her face being terribly scarred up. It would tear her heart to peice's if fear were on those young faces because of her. Willowpaw finally had to swollow her fear and quickly entered the den with the fish in her month. She walked in a little ways and sat down with the fish in front of her looking at the ground with her head down.

The sturdy tom blinked his eyes open from where he was sleeping by his sister Rosekit and Sandshadow. The water smell of fish wafted gently through his nose, and he sat up looking over Sandshadow to see Willowpaw with a fish. Tottering towards her, he squeaked, "Is that for us?"
Shyly the tom looked up at the older apprentice, feeling the same strange feeling as he looked at her scared face. He didn't really know what had happened to her- only that she was lucky to be alive. She was a normal apprentice and even her severe wounds didn't seem to be able to stop her from being a warrior. A warrior, that's what I want to be.

Rolling over with an annoyed groan the young apprentice still wasn't able to get the sun out of her eyes. Ripplestream had assigned her to clean the nursery first thing this morning and she really needed to get started if she didn't want to be stuck in camp all day.
Pushing herself to her paws, she wearily stumbled out of the den and paused only long enough to wash herself. Once clean and satisfied with her pelt, she trotted towards the nursery where she could scent Willowpaw and hear Leafkit. I hope Willowpaw hasn't been assigned because I wasn't awake. I'm not that late.
Relief swept over the she-cat as she pushed into the den and smelt fish. Willowpaw must have brought it. "Sandshadow?" She whispered. She didn't want to wake Rosekit, but she really needed to get started.

Her whiskers twitched as the dreams continued to play through her mind. The dreams were full of play and excitement, like they usually were. Soon her left hind paw began to twitch as she chased after the big gigantic ball of moss. The little kit was determined to reach it. Rosekit had finally crashed the previous night after making several laps around the camp…it had taken quite some time before her energy depleted and she was carried to the nursery. She made sure to bury herself deep into the fur of Sandshadow and the little kit felt so warm. Normally Rosekit would be awake by now, aggrevating the rest of the clan. But it seemed like the little kit was letting everyone have a break, and she was still fast asleep.
Before she knew it some of the warmth beside her had moved and Rosekit sighed. Looks like Leafkit had already gotten up. But Rosekit was still wanting a few more moments of sleep. Trying to bury herself back into the warmth, she stopped the instant she heard another cat. The voice may have been quiet, but it was enough to allow the kit to finish waking up. Stretching her paws, Rosekit blinked her blue eyes first to Sandshadow and then to the voice that had awoken her. Looking to Splashpaw she wondered what the apprentice wanted.
But the little kit soon had her attention distracted by her brother and another one of the clan apprentices. It seemed he was in conversation with Willowpaw. Getting onto her paws she yawned, still a little sleepy, but soon her energy was starting back up. Rosekit let out a little mewl as she charged toward her brother and Willowpaw. Looking up at the apprentice, the little cream kit just stared. ”Did you come to sneak us out of camp?”
[/color] she asked innocently. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"If your going to sneak out, I suggest you talk about it when your not around adults?" Sandshadow purred in amusement at the little kit's comment. She was tired, but the love she had for these kits was overwhelming and she was glad that she could be the cat to take them in.
She had looked up as Willowpaw and Splashpaw came in. She could see the worry on Willowpaw's expression as she dropped the fish on the ground. However everything happened so fast that she barely had time to respond. First Leafkit had asked her if the freshkill was for them. Then Slashpaw had come in, and even then she had to wait until Rosekit had her turn to speak. Now Sandshadow was purring with amusement as everything happened around her.
"Willowpaw, you are welcome here. Thank you for bringing us some fish. Leafkit, Rosekit, would you like to take the first bites as I speak to Splashpaw?" As she spoke she stood up and padded over to sit down next to Splashpaw.
"Your here to clean out the nursery right? I think there are some burrs in my nest. I tried to get them out last night before I went to bed, but I wasn't able to find them all. Do you think you could help me with that?" She glanced at the kits and smiled at Willowpaw before turning back to Splashpaw. "I'm afraid the kits are going to get nettle stuck in their paws during the night if I let them stay there too long."

Willowpaw could see Leafkit with her good eye even with her head bowed and trying to hide her scarred face from the kits. Than Sandshadow spoke to her and Willowpaw lefted blue eyes to look in the queens. Even with one eye dull of light and the other sparkling with life in it. Willowpaw worried about what the kits would think "Thank you Sandshadow and your welcome for the fish" she said slowly. Willowpaw than without thinking looked at Rosekit to answer her question "no I'm her......" she trailed off as soon as she relized they could see her terribly scarred face now. The kits could see the claw marks going from the top of her head to her chin. This marks go over her blind eye and with that eye being dull of any light in it. Willowpaw fear'd she scare the poor little kits. Willowpaw always loved to help with the kits and to make the queens as comfortable as possible. She moved away from the kits to sit beside Sandshadow nervously hoping that the kits won't fear her. Leafkit must have seen a little of her scar and Willowpaw didn't know what his reaction would be to seeing this ugly thing on her face.

The young golden tabby kit looked up at the older grey apprentice. His eyes passing over the tabbies scarred face. He had heard that the young apprentice had been scarred severly in a battle, one of the first that Solostar had ever led the camp into. With his quiet nature, young Leafkit had picked up on many things, rumors that elders said, that Solostar felt personally responsible for Willowpaw's injuries.
It wasn't the kind of questions that a kit could address to his leader, but he desperately wanted to know if it was true. Turning his attention back to Sandshadow, he pricked his ears as the queen offered him and Rosekit the first bites of the fish that Splashpaw had brought them. Leafkit hadn't talked much to Splashpaw but he had picked up that Ripplestream was her mentor and she seemed pretty nice.
She was younger than Willowpaw, and hadn't been in the battle that had wounded the other apprentice. Taking another bite of fish, he looked over at Rosekit and mewed, "What are we going to play today?" Blinking his eyes at his sister, he breifly wondered what Creampaw and Whitefrost were up to today. He liked Whitefrost, the steady white tom was very kind to him and always full of information. Rosekit surely liked him, as she followed him around often. Taking another bite of fish, the little tom sat back on his haunches and folded his little tail around his body to wait to on Rosekit to finish.

'Your here to clean out the nursery right? I think there are some burrs in my nest. I tried to get them out last night before I went to bed, but I wasn't able to find them all. Do you think you could help me with that?' The she-cat began as she moved closer to Splashpaw. Dipping her head in asent to the queen the she-cat waited as she spoke again. 'I'm afraid the kits are going to get nettle stuck in their paws during the night if I let them stay there too long.'
Splashpaw could understand the queens fears. Nettles didn't feel good in a warriors paw, let alone a kits sensitive ones. "Right away, SandShadow. We wouldn't want the kits to hurt themselves." As she stepped away, the she-cat felt a limb poke her in the head. That's gotta go. Turning back to the queen, she let out a purr, "I can handle the den if you want to take the kits out. I want to take down this stick that's poking out too." Looking at the large nursery Splashpaw felt her stomach plummet at the size of the den. Why did I just suggest that? This was going to be a long day.
With a sigh the she-cat padded over to the far corner of the den, and began rolling up moss and scrapping debris and dirt into a pile.

Rosekit was just about to offer a suggestion, but it seemed as if she had been caught. Sandshadow had overheard her….just great. She looked to the ground and tried to look ashamed, but really she was beaming at the thought of sneaking out. She completely ignored the comment about the food and stuck up her nose, she didn’t want any right now. She wanted to play. Her paws were itching to do something, and she was to the point of not being able to sit still without bouncing around.
She noticed Willowpaw’s scars but she didn’t care. It probably meant she was a big huge awesome warrior cat that could teach them how to battle and just be awesome. She didn’t even realize a mewl of delight had escaped from her mouth. Ideas were formulating in her little mind as the thought of how that could be used to her advantage sunk in.
But her brother interrupted her thoughts and Rosekit blinked at him. Leafkit was ready to go? Well then, she would gladly lead him into some mousebrained plot that could possibly be dangerous. ”I think we should go try and find mommy. Maybe she will let us go with her today and if not, we can always just find some other warrior to play with.”
[/color] Rosekit mewed, trying to speak softly so Sandshadow couldn’t hear her plans. The cream colored kit was itching to go find Creampaw and aggrevate her ‘mother’. Other cats had mentioned that Creampaw was her sister, but that didn’t make any sense to little Rosekit. Creampaw was her mommy, she just couldn’t be in the nursery with them all the time because she was a super important apprentice to the clan. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

She looked around the den. It was a little bit messy, especially where the kits had been sleeping. She purred and turned back to Splashpaw. The she-cat looked like she wanted to help, but then she looked around and Sandshadow could see it in her expression that she was a little overwhelmed. Sandshadow flicked her tail at Splashpaw's ear as she went over to clear the moss.
"Thank you Splashpaw, I appreciate it. I will make sure Ripplestream rewards you with a day off tomorrow."
With that she turned to Willlowpaw. "If you don't have anything to do today, would you like to keep me company for a little bit while the kits go find Creampaw?"
Sandshadow liked Willlowpaw very much. She may be shy to be in the nursery, but Sandshadow was glad she had survived. She wished to spend more time with the apprentice so that she wasn't always alone. Sandshadow wanted to love her. Just like she loved Leafkit and Rosekit. Though she knew that they loved Creampaw more. She couldn't wait for her own kits so that she could love them too.
Great Starclan Sandshadow... You are supposed to be a stubborn cat. Why do you want to be a mother so badly?
But it didn't bother her too much. She pushed the thought aside and looked down at the kits. "Leafkit, Rosekit, If Creampaw is in camp you can play with her. If not, I want you to stay where I can keep an eye on you alright?"

Willowpaw looked up to Sandshadow and could see that she was being kind to her. Her own mother was dead along with her father and brother too. But somewhere deep down She knew Stormpaw was still alive somewhere. Even with one blind pale blue eye and Willowpaw had, had a hard time relearning her lessons from her mentor. But then Raggedshadow took an interesting and she trained some with Brackenpaw who was younger than herself. Willowpaw nodded to the queen “I would love to spend time with you Sandshadow.” She said smiling.
It was always good to be able to talk with someone. Willowpaw never understood why her brother was taken from her and had a little of hard time believe that StarClan would let something like this happen to one of their apprentices. However, it was just one of those things hard to understand in a time of battle. She had fought well and yet she lost everything, her mother, her father, her brother and her left eye. Willowpaw sometimes saw it as a fact for her not to be able to become a warrior. Who would want a warrior who’s half blind and has a painful past to deal with? Willowpaw looked at Sandshadow “How has everything been.” She asked with a fake smile. It was all Willowpaw could ménage of late and it seem to make her Clan mates think she was fine or has gotten over the loss of her family. Willowpaw stood up to follow after Sandshadow with her kits out side the nursery.
