The cool air of moon-high found the muscular RiverClan leader leaving her camp. Her clanmates were asleep and as she left the had casually spoken to her warrior who sat at guard. It wasn't unusual for this she-cat to leave in the middle of the night, but tonight her destination was peculiar. She was heading towards the island, where the clan gatherings were held at every full moon. She should be alone, as it was only a crescent moon.
As the silver she-cat pushed through the reeds and bushes that protected the RiverClan territory, she drew herself to a halt at the edge of WindClan territory. She was allowed passage as long as she stayed two fox-lengths to the lake. Crossing the border carefully, the she-cat kept alert for any signs of a WindClan patrol. Finally she reached the tree-bridge. A bridge that had been made by StarClan seasons ago. Crossing it, she let her claws slip into the bark as the tree bowed under her weight.
Finally there, she trotted up the sandy shore and found herself pausing on the bank to look out across the water her eyes lingering on each of the territories in turn. WindClan, SkyClan, ThunderClan, ShadowClan... the four other clans of the forest. Each of the clans had fierce warriors, of course none of them had the skill that RiverClan held.
Taking a deep breath, she stood and padded into the dense trees of the island. Pushing through the ferns, she found herself muttering about the undergrowth. How could ThunderClan live like this? Who could live this crowded? In her territory, there was little undergrowth with spaced trees and mostly marshy areas. Not as marshy as ShadowClan, but not as dry as WindClan or SkyClan. Lost in her own thoughts, she didn't realize that she was no longer alone on the island. A new scent was drifting over the breeze, a scent of SkyClan.
